Once you reach Sonprayag, you’re almost there — just one last stretch to go before you stand in front of the sacred Triyuginarayan Temple. This is where your long journey through trains, buses, or winding mountain roads comes to an end. From here, it’s just about 12 kilometers more to the temple.
Now, there are two main ways to reach Triyuginarayan from Sonprayag:
Option 1: Shared Jeep or Local Taxi
The simplest way is to take a shared jeep or a local taxi. These jeeps leave regularly during the day, especially in the morning and early afternoon. The road from Sonprayag to Triyuginarayan is narrow but fully motorable, so you can comfortably sit back and enjoy the last bit of the mountain views.
Distance: Around 12 km
Time: 30 to 45 minutes
Fare: ₹100 to ₹150 per person (shared) or ₹800–₹1,000 for a private hire
Tip: Try to reach Sonprayag before 4 PM, as shared jeeps reduce frequency after that
Option 2: Trekking from Sonprayag
If you’re feeling a little adventurous and want to stretch your legs, you can also trek the last few kilometers. The trekking path is roughly 5 to 6 kilometers, depending on where you start from, and it cuts through beautiful alpine terrain with forest trails, clear air, and the sound of streams.
Trek duration: 1.5 to 2 hours (moderate pace)
Difficulty level: Easy to moderate — suitable for most healthy adults
Tip: Wear good walking shoes and carry water; the path can be uneven in parts
Whether you ride or walk, this final approach to Triyuginarayan is peaceful and truly beautiful. You’ll know you’re close when you see prayer flags fluttering, the ancient stone temple rising ahead, and hear bells in the distance.
