According to sacred Hindu scriptures, Triyuginarayan Temple is the exact spot where the marriage of Shiva and Parvati took place, in the presence of all the gods and goddesses. The name “Triyugi” refers to the three yugas — Satya Yuga, Treta Yuga, and Dwapara Yuga — signifying that this holy temple has been standing since those ancient eras, witnessing time itself.
The Skanda Purana, one of the major Hindu scriptures, mentions this location as the venue of the divine wedding. As the legend goes, after Parvati underwent deep penance to win Shiva’s love, Lord Vishnu arranged the wedding ceremony and played the role of Parvati’s brother, while Lord Brahma performed the rituals as the priest. The gods gathered here in joy to witness this cosmic union — making it one of the most auspicious events in Hindu mythology.
